About Me
Ty Joerger is a Radio Board Operator for iHeartMedia Dallas and a student majoring in Broadcast Communications. Ty attended Wakeland High School in Frisco where he found his love for broadcasting. Taking classes from news broadcasting to radio broadcasting to photography, Ty made it his goal to be as versatile as possible. Throughout high school, he would go on to do work for the school’s news broadcast, WIN-TV, as well as the school’s Wolverine Radio. In addition, he would work with Wakeland’s basketball program where he would do photography, videography, commentating, public address announcing and music production for all the program’s home games. During his senior year, Ty mentored under Dan O’Malley of the Russ Martin Show where he learned the basics of radio in the field.
After graduating in 2016, Ty started attending Collin College to obtain his associates for Broadcast Communications. In February of 2017, he was hired at CBS Radio (Now Entercom) for News Radio 1080 KRLD in Uptown Dallas, Texas. There he would run the main control board for the station, which included running live news, breaking news, pre-recorded programming and live radio shows, including Texas Fishing and Outdoors and Neil Sperry’s Texas Lawn and Garden Hour. Ty would work there from February 2017 to July of 2018. In August of 2018, Ty then started working at iHeartMedia Dallas as a board operator and producer where he is currently working. Running cluster shifts where he is managing multiple stations including 97.1 KEGL, 102.1 KDGE, 92.5 KZPS, 102.5 KDMX, 106.1 KHKS, and 1190 KFXR. As well, Ty is tasked with producing multiple live shows as well as Texas Tech Athletic events on Talk Radio 1190.
Ty plans to obtain his Associates for Broadcast Communications in Spring of 2018, where he will then plan to transfer to the University of Texas - Arlington to continue on his bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Communications.
